NPCI Plans Unified E-Mandate Tracking Across All UPI Apps to Improve User Experience

New Initiative Aims to Simplify Recurring Payment Management

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is planning to introduce a unified e-mandate tracking system that will allow users to view and manage recurring payment mandates across all Unified Payments Interface (UPI) applications from a single interface. The move is expected to make it easier for consumers to monitor subscriptions, auto-debits, and standing payment instructions.

Currently, users often have to check individual UPI apps to track active mandates, which can make managing recurring payments cumbersome. The proposed framework seeks to address this challenge by providing greater transparency and convenience.

Enhanced Visibility for Consumers

Under the planned system, users will be able to access details of their active e-mandates, including payment frequency, merchant information, and upcoming debit schedules, regardless of the UPI app through which the mandate was created. This unified view is expected to help customers avoid missed cancellations, duplicate mandates, and unexpected auto-debits.

The initiative aligns with NPCI’s broader efforts to strengthen user trust in digital payments by improving visibility and control over recurring transactions.

Boosting the UPI Ecosystem

The introduction of unified e-mandate tracking could further enhance the appeal of UPI-based recurring payments for both consumers and merchants. Businesses that rely on subscription models, utility bill collections, loan repayments, and insurance premiums may benefit from a more transparent and user-friendly ecosystem.

As digital payments continue to grow in India, features that improve payment management and customer confidence are becoming increasingly important. The proposed system is expected to support a seamless experience while reinforcing UPI’s position as one of the country’s leading payment platforms.

By enabling users to track mandates across multiple apps in one place, NPCI aims to simplify recurring payment management and encourage wider adoption of secure, automated digital payment solutions.
