Australia: Eftsure Acquires US Fintech Relish to Strengthen AI-Powered Payment Security

Australian fintech Eftsure has acquired US-based Relish to combine AI-powered vendor validation, invoice processing and payment verification into a broader enterprise payment assurance platform.

Eftsure Expands Into AI-Powered Vendor Validation

Australian fintech Eftsure has acquired US-based Relish, a company specialising in AI-powered vendor data validation, workflow automation and invoice processing for enterprise customers. The transaction was announced in September 2026, although financial terms were not disclosed.

The acquisition brings together two complementary parts of the enterprise payment process. Relish focuses on validating vendor information, automating workflows and processing invoices, while Eftsure specialises in independently verifying payment details before funds are transferred.

According to Eftsure, combining the technologies will allow finance teams to gain greater confidence across the payment lifecycle — from vendor onboarding and data collection to invoice processing and final payment verification.

AI and Payment Fraud Prevention Drive Fintech M&A

The deal reflects a broader fintech shift toward using artificial intelligence to strengthen financial controls and prevent payment fraud.

Incorrect or manipulated supplier information can create significant risks for businesses, particularly as finance teams manage increasingly complex digital procurement and payment workflows. Relish’s validation and automation capabilities are designed to help enterprises identify problems earlier in the process, while Eftsure adds an independent verification layer before payments are released.

The combined platform is expected to give businesses a more integrated approach to supplier validation, invoice controls and payment assurance, potentially reducing gaps between procurement and treasury functions.

The transaction also strengthens Eftsure’s international footprint by adding a US-based enterprise technology business to its Australian fintech operations. The combined company says the platform is intended to support customers globally.

The acquisition comes as enterprise payment providers increasingly use AI not only to automate back-office processes but also to improve data accuracy, fraud detection, compliance and financial risk management.

For the fintech industry, the Eftsure-Relish deal highlights how AI-powered data validation is becoming an important layer of modern payment infrastructure, particularly as businesses seek stronger protection against supplier fraud and increasingly sophisticated payment scams.
